The Justice Club will be touring the Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory (SCDL) on Friday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. Deadline to register for the tour is Wednesday, September 21. Please email Sam Peters, Justice Club president, srpeters@alaska.edu. Space is limited to the first 20 members who respond.
The SCDL is responsible for providing biological screening, DNA, latent fingerprint, firearm/tool mark, blood alcohol and drug identification forensic science services to Alaska law enforcement agencies, as well providing expert court testimony on lab results of tested evidence, administering the statewide breath alcohol testing program, and training law enforcement officers in proper evidence collection and preservation techniques.
If you are participating in the tour, you must arrive at the Crime Lab at 5500 E. Tudor Road by 12:40 p.m.
