Justice Center celebrates professional administrative staff

On April 27, the Justice Center celebrated the professional administrative staff and their contribution to our academic and research programs. These individuals are important members of the Justice Center team of faculty and staff.

Justice Center staff nominated for UAA Administrative Professional of the Year Award

The following Justice Center staff were recently nominated for the UAA Campus Bookstore 2015 Administrative Professional of the Year Award:

Melissa Green, Publication Specialist
Amy Perkins, Fiscal Tech
Tuyet Tran, Academic Program Specialist

Each of these individuals is an invaluable member of the Justice Center team and makes an important contribution to the mission of the Justice Center.

The Campus Bookstore accepts nominations each year to recognize the significant work of UAA employees.  The 2015 winner was Paula Feldhacker, CAS Humanities.

Rachel Epstein is the UAA Campus Bookstore coordinator for this event.

2014 Justice Center Bike to Work Team pedals in the sunshine

Anchorage's 10th Annual Bike to Work Day was held on Wednesday, June 4. This year's Justice Center Bike to Work Team basked in the sun as they pedaled to work.  Riders for 2014 included Dr. Troy Payne, Tuyet Tran, Amy Perkins, and Charlotte Titus.

The UAA Office of Sustainability and UAA Student Activities hosted a free BBQ for all the UAA riders.

4 individuals from Justice Center nominated for Chancellor's Awards for Excellence


Two faculty members and two staff members from the Justice Center have been nominated for 2012 Chancellor's Awards for Excellence:
  • Dr. Sharon Chamard - Associate Professor - For Service to the Community
  • Dr. Brad Myrstol - Assistant Professor - For Excellence in  Research/Creative Activity
  • Barbara Armstrong - Research Associate - For Staff Excellence
  • Amy Perkins - Fiscal Technician - For Staff Excellence

The Chancellor's Awards promote excellence in what we do and recognize individuals and groups for their exceptional service to the university community.

There are group and individual awards in nine categories.  Winners will be announced at the September 21 Faculty and Staff Convocation at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium.

2012 Justice Center Bike to Work team

Anchorage's 8th Annual Bike to Work Day was held on Friday, May 18. This year's Justice Center Bike to Work Team pedaled in the sunshine to the UAA campus, but hit headwinds and crosswinds on the way home. Riders for 2012 included Dr. Troy Payne, Amy Perkins, Tuyet Tran, and Barbara Armstrong. The Justice team numbered 8 people, but injuries and bike repairs sidelined the other riders. Prof. Deb Periman, Justice faculty member,was the Team Captain. Team members also enjoyed the barbecue at noon provided by the UAA Office of Sustainability.

2011 Justice Center Bike to Work Team

Today is Anchorage's 7th Annual Bike to Work Day. This year's Justice Center Bike to Work Team pedaled in the sunshine and a bit of wind to the UAA campus. The team for 2011 included the family of Justice faculty member Dr. Brad Myrstol: Tana Myrstol, UAA Office of Special Programs, and their son, Finn. Team members also enjoyed the barbecue at noon provided by the UAA Office of Sustainability. Prof. Deb Periman, Justice faculty member, has led the team as Team Captain for the past several years.

Today is Anchorage's 6th Annual Bike to Work Day. Last year Bike to Work Day was pretty rainy — but not so today, and all members of the UAA Justice Center 2010 Bike to Work team were glad to step out into the sunshine to take a group photo. Justice Center Bike to Work Team

The Justice Center Bike to Work Team braved the rain on May 15, 2009 to bicycle to their workplace at the UAA Justice Center.

Justice Center students Colt Nelson, Eryne Reilly, Kristen Doughty, and Kristin Machado also committed to ride to work that day. The Justice Center was one of eight other UAA Bike to Work teams that participated in this 5th Annual Anchorage Bike to Work Day.
