Justice alums attend Green & Gold Gala to raise scholarship funds

Justice Alumni Chapter members attended the 2015 Green and Gold Gala held September 26 to raise funds for student scholarships. The event raised $72,000 in donations and pledges, and additional pledges and matches are still being processed. 

Yale Metzger (BA Justice '87 ) bid on and won "Breakfast with the Chancellor" during the fundraising auction.

Justice Alumni Chapter board meets to develop 2015-2016 chapter plan

The Justice Alumni Chapter met August 16 to develop the 2015-2016 chapter plan which will be submitted to the UAA Alumni Association.

Chapter President Beth Mader reports that the chapter has grown to about 20 members during this past year, and is gearing up for the annual chapter meeting to be held in early November 2015. Dr. Allan Barnes, Justice faculty, is the Justice Alumni Chapter advisor.

Justice Alumni Chapter president attends UAA Building Futures scholarship fundraiser

Beth Mader, President of the Justice Alumni Chapter, attended the September 7 Building Futures Dinner held in the Alaska Airlines Center.  This event celebrated the grand opening of the new center, with proceeds supporting the Athletic Excellence Fund at the UA Foundation.

Justice alumni meet to discuss activities for the upcoming year

The Justice Alumni Chapter met at the home of Dr. Allan Barnes, chapter advisor, on August 24. They discussed possible activities and priorities for the coming year.

Charles Gunther, B.A. Justice '91, was elected the alumni chapter liaison officer and will work with the UAA Alumni Association, of which he is a board member.

Justice Center alum spotlight: Melanie Osborne

Melanie Osborne.
Melanie Osborne, B.A. Justice  '92, was hired this spring as General Counsel for Chugach Alaska Corporation, which represents over 2,500 Eskimo, Aleut, and Indian shareholders. Prior to joining Chugach Alaska, she served as deputy general counsel for NANA Development Corporation. Melanie has 13 years of experience representing Alaska Native tribes and corporations, and volunteers her time with several non-profits including Alaska Legal Services and Breast Cancer Focus. She received her law degree from the University of Washington School of Law.  Melanie was also recently elected treasurer of the UAA Justice Alumni Chapter.

The Justice Alumni Chapter of the UAA Alumni Association met April 13 at the home of faculty advisor, Dr. Allan Barnes, to elect officers for the chapter and discuss plans for future events.

During the past year, the Justice Alumni Chapter has been in the process of organizing.  Bridgette Ellis served as Chapter Chair during this formation period. The Justice Alumni Chapter was formally approved by the UAA Alumni Association Board of Directors in February 2014.

Justice Alumni Chapter to meet April 13

Justice Alumni Chapter Meeting

6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

An informal meeting of the recently chartered Justice Alumni Chapter of the UAA Alumni Association will be held on Sunday, April 13 at 6 - 8 p.m. at the home of Dr. Allan Barnes, chapter faculty advisor.

Anyone who has graduated with a degree or certificate from the Justice Center is automatically a member.

Justice alumni chapter approved by UAA alumni association board

Dr. Allan Barnes, Justice Alumni Chapter faculty advisor, attended the recent opening of The Alumni Center at UAA on the first floor of the UAA/APU Consortium Library.  Rachel Morse, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations, welcomed UA President Patrick Gamble, UAA Provost Tom Case, faculty, alumni, and guests to the opening reception on February 12.

The Justice Alumni Chapter was 1 of 7 chapters that were approved by the UAA Alumni Association Board on Monday, February 11. The chapters are now officially part of the UAA Alumni Association. Bridgette Ellis, Justice '04, is the Justice Alumni Chapter Chair.

Justice alumni group looking for grads - join us!

The Justice Alumni Group is our newest effort to keep in touch with alums -  and we are looking for our graduates!

We are part of the UAA Alumni Association and invite Justice alums to join us for special events, networking, mentoring students, re-engaging with faculty, and presenting guest lectures to classes.
