The UAA Justice Center, 8 Stars of Gold, and the ACLU presented a special free event, “Our Alaska Constitution – The Next 50 Years” at UAA on January 9, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The event was co-organized by Professor Periman and Jeff Mittman, ACLU Alaska Chapter Executive Director.
The program included a keynote address by Juneau Mayor and former Alaska Attorney General Bruce Botelho and a panel presentation, "At the Constitutional Convention," with convention delegate Vic Fischer, Chief Clerk Katie Hurley, and former State Senator Arliss Sturgulewski, along with constitutional scholar Douglas Pope. Broadcast journalist Rhonda McBride moderated the event. Also featured were performances by the Anchorage Concert Chorus, Lepquinm Gumilgit Gagoadim Tsimshian Dancers and readings from the Constitutional Convention by the Bartlett High School Drama Team.
